 625 gallon fish tank – $2000 (Wooster, Ohio)

Plywood tank, 8 ft x 4 ft x 32 inches

I built this several years ago and it still holds water with out a problem. I lowered the water level to get the last of the fish out. All of the fish are sold and I will fill it all of the way up if you want to see it filled. $2000 gets you the tank and everything for the tank.
The filter is a Tetra – BP4000 Bio-Active Pressurized Filter. I added an extra bag of bioballs to the filter.
It has an under gravel heater. Using a small water heater and a pump that circulates water through the pex tubing under the gravel. The temp is controlled by turning the pump on and off.
The front is a sheet of 1/2 inch thick tempered glass. Glued to PVC pond liner. The blue liner can be replaced with black liner.
The bottom is a 4 ft by 8 ft sheet of plywood. It is sitting in a 1/4 inch thick steel frame that holds the sides in place. The top frame is also made out of 1/4 inch thick steel. The top frame is strong enough to sit on while cleaning the tank. The side braces are bolted on.

Water changes are done by connecting the blue hose to the filter and purging the filter out while draining the tank. Filling it is made easy because when the water reaches the top of the tank it goes thorough the over flow.
I have plastic covers for the tank.

The tank is not hard to take apart and each peace is carried though a normal door. Most of the parts of the tank are 8 ft long so plan on renting a moving van to haul it.

Just remember this thing gets heavy. Filled it is about 6000 pounds. I have a several floor jacks under it.
